ELA 66 - Level 2 and 3 Pronunciation
5.0 Credits An introductory pronunciation course for beginning level students whose first language is not English. This course helps students develop spoken English skills to enable more effective communication in English. This course is aligned with the Career and College Readiness Standards (CCRS), as outlined in the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) of 2016. Placement by an instructor or advisor is required. Course-level Learning Objectives (CLOs) Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:- Demonstrate strategies to identify and practice the consonant and vowel sounds of American English.
- Demonstrate strategies to identify and practice patterns of English stress, rhythm and intonation.
- Apply recording technology and a Language Management System to practice and produce speech and apply feedback for pronunciation improvement.
