CS 470 - Operating Systems



5.0 Credits
Principles of operating systems includingprocess management, memory management, auxiliary storage management, andresource allocation. Includes some discussion of networking and distributed systems.
Prerequisite Completion of CS 302 and CS 334 with a grade of 2.5 or higher or instructor permission.
Course-level Learning Objectives (CLOs)
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Describe, contrast and compare the services provided by and the design of operating systems.
  2. Explain the structure and organization of the file system.
  3. Use system calls to manage processes, memory, and the file system.
  4. Contrast different approaches of memory management.
  5. Write code to implement additional operating system behavior.
