CS 450 - Security Foundations
5.0 Credits Explore elements of security and common security threats. Topics include various types of cyber attacks and risks to a system as well as fundamentals for mitigating those risks at the software level. May also discuss common security issues due to integration with networking systems. Prerequisite Completion of CS 302 and CS 334 with a grade of 2.5 or higher or instructor permission. Course-level Learning Objectives (CLOs) Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Identify and avoid social engineering (human level security).
- Explain and implement multiple types of authentication.
- Discuss security issues in relation to the cloud.
- Evaluate code for common software vulnerabilities such as buffer overflow, SQL injection, etc.
