LEGAL 273 - Racial Justice

This course is an introduction to the current legal challenges to, and strategies for, engaging in racial justice advocacy. This course explores current issues in racial justice, includingmass incarceration, voter suppression, and housing inequality.
Course-level Learning Objectives (CLOs)
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Explain race as a social construct.
  2. Explain the difference between individual, institutional, and structural racism, as well as the difference between equality and equity.
  3. Examine current forms of institutional and structural racism.
  4. Explain what bias is and how it operates, and apply practical tools for recognizing and interrupting bias.
