ROBAI 310 - Introduction to Artificial Intelligence in Robotics
2.0 Credits Through seminars, project work, and independent reading, students will explore how Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as machine learning, computer vision, and natural language processing are applied to robotics, with an emphasis on manufacturing applications. Students will engage in activities that demonstrate the practical use of AI in robotic systems for manufacturing processes. They will critically analyze current trends and challenges in the field. Students should have an appropriate foundational understanding of AI and Mechatronics or Robotics. Completion of CS 103 or co-registration in CS 103 is recommended. Priority given to students accepted to the ROBAI BAS program. If space is available, students outside of the program may be able to enroll with instructor permission. Prerequisite Admittance to ROBAI Program. Course-level Learning Objectives (CLOs) Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Identify the current and future applications of AI and robotics.
- Evaluate and compare key technologies in AI and robotics.
- Analyze human-robot interactions.
- Research and synthesize real-world applications and limitations of AI and Robotics.
- Assess the economic, societal, legal, and ethical implications of deploying AI in robotic manufacturing applications.
