LEGAL 220 - Real Estate and Property Law 5.0 Credits The law of real property; common types of real estate transactions and conveyances such as deeds, contracts, leases and deeds of trust; personal property law; the system of recording and search of public documents. Prerequisite: LEGAL 200 or instructor’s permission.
Course Objectives Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Demonstrate by application knowledge of the law of real property; the more common types of real estate transactions and conveyances such as deed, contracts, leases, and deeds of trust. [REASON]
- Draft various documents involved in the conveyance of real property through sale, lease, or other transaction. [COMMUNICATE]
- Identify and correct drafting problems involving these various instruments. [COMMUNICATE]
- Distinguish between real property and personal property law. [REASON]
- Demonstrate knowledge of the system of recording and searching of public documents. [REASON]
