Program Description The Reentry Certificate prepares students who complete core human services courses, equipping them with skills to support, educate, and mentor current or formerly justice-involved clients. This includes individuals interacting with courts, jails, or county, state or federal prisons. It also applies to those engaged in drug courts, child protection cases, probation, or family members of affected individuals. Designed for those with an associate’s degree or higher, the coursework integrates applied human services delivery with a framework of post incarceration reentry and can also contribute to a larger Human Services degree. Ideal for those seeking expertise in this field or as reentry navigators, the certificate requires a minimum of 19 credits.

This certificate of completion utilizes courses required for related degrees in social and human services and addiction studies and blends them to enhance the student’s understanding of the unique needs of people who are or were justice-involved.
A Washington state background check may be required for entrance into this vocation.
Not all courses are offered every quarter. Some elective courses are offered only once a year. Students are strongly urged to consult with their faculty advisor regarding their career objectives, interests, and schedule planning.

General Information for your Certificate

This certificate of completion (COC) is awarded upon completion of the required number of courses. Students are required to maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.0 or S grades in all college level courses in order to earn this COC. Certain certificates may require a higher cumulative grade point average as dictated by industry standards. All credits for this COC must be earned at Edmonds College.

Certificates of completion (COCs) are not eligible for financial aid; however, some COCs may be eligible for veteran’s benefits. If you are interested in this COC, please talk to your faculty advisor or an academic advisor in student services.

Students Are Advised To

Review how to apply for certain exams to be awarded as credit.
Plan their schedule several quarters in advance in order to accommodate courses that are offered only once or twice a year;
Review the college catalog for required course prerequisites and include these in schedule planning; and
Communicate with an academic advisor and/or a faculty advisor.

Graduation Application

It is the student’s responsibility to apply for graduation. Your degree or certificate will not be awarded unless you submit a graduation application. A completed Graduation Application form must be submitted online by the 10th day of the quarter in which the student expects to graduate. Note: Applications for summer quarter are due by the 8th day of the quarter.
