Degree Notes

Academic pathways: Possible Bachelor’s degree programs of study can include transferring into Registered Nursing (RN) programs either at the Associate’s level (ADN) or Bachelors (BSN) level across Washington State. Students can choose to apply to ADN programs at community or technical colleges or BSN programs at universities after completing the PreNursing DTA.

Career pathways: Possible career opportunities can include Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN) or Registered Nurses (RN). Other healthcare-oriented opportunities can include Public Health, Community Health Worker, Dental Hygienist, Diagnostic Medical Sonographer, Physical Therapist, or Radiology Technicians.

Transfer Notes for Nursing Students: In addition to completing all necessary PreNursing prerequisites, prospective RN students will often need to complete TEAS/PAX Testing, have Healthcare experience prior to applying, and/or take additional required classes outside of the degree program at Edmonds. Please discuss with an advisor to learn more as this will require a more customized PreNursing pathway.

Students with no prior healthcare experience are recommended to pursue one of Edmonds College certificate programs in our Allied Health Education while they also earn their Pre-Nursing DTA degree.

Program Map Notes

  • Starting Term: These maps are designed to start in the Fall and may have Summer terms (indicated by “Term S - Summer”). Students starting in terms other than Fall should talk to an advisor.

  • Time to Complete: You may complete your program earlier or later depending on transferred credits, how many classes you take per term, and any prerequisite or pre-college courses you need.
  • Transfer Requirements: Begin considering now which schools you may want to transfer to and consult an advisor or potential transfer schools early in your planning process. Be aware that some WA state universities have specific admissions requirements.
  • Reading this map: “Choose One” sections provide course options that could work for your degree regardless of what you choose. When you see “Discuss With Advisor,” you should work with your advisor to select these courses to help you meet graduation requirements as well as university admission or major requirements.
