This program map is a scheduling tool designed to show you how you can meet the Associate of Technical Arts requirements while also focusing on course work for your area of focus. You should meet with an advisor to help create your custom plan.

Degree Notes
Academic pathways: Associate of Technical Arts degrees are professional-technical degrees and are not designed to transfer.
Career pathways: The Early Childhood Education Associate of Technical Arts Degree program prepares a student for employment in early childhood (infancy to third grade) program settings for work as a teacher, elementary school classroom aide, assistant teacher, preschool teacher, before /after school leader, family support worker, or program administrator.
Program Map Notes
- Starting Term: These maps are designed to start in the Fall and may have Summer terms (indicated by “Term S - Summer”). Students starting in terms other than Fall should talk to an advisor.
- Course Sequence: Courses are listed in a specific order to satisfy program requirements. Do not swap classes unless directed to by an advisor. Some courses may have limited offerings during the year. Work with an advisor to create a custom plan if needed.
- Practicum: Students should complete at least 45 credits in ECE specific courses before enrollment in ECE 208 Practicum. Work with your ECE advisor to create a plan for site placement. Instructor permission is required.
- Time to Complete: You may complete your program earlier or later depending on transferred credits, how many classes you take per term, and any prerequisite or pre-college courses you need.
- Transfer Requirements: Associate of Technical Arts degrees are professional-technical degrees and are not designed to transfer.
- Reading this map: “Choose One” sections provide course options that could work for your degree regardless of what you choose. When you see “Discuss With Advisor,” you should work with your advisor to select these courses to help you meet graduation requirements as well as university admission or major requirements.

Getting Started - Placement Notes
Milestone 1: NSA (New Student Advising)
*Meet with your advisor to select a program of study, obtain math and English placement, plan pre-college coursework, discuss transfer credits, and obtain a starting plan. - Placement for Math is not required to begin this program. MATH 77 placement is recommended before taking certain classes.
- Placement into ENGLP 93 or AENGL 93 is required before beginning this program. ENGL 99 or ENGL& 101 placement is required before starting certain classes.
Term 1 - Fall (13 credits)
Term 2 - Winter (16 credits)
Milestone 2: Term 2 Check-In
*Meet with your advisor to make sure you are making steady progress and have successfully taken or planned to take entry level classes for your program. Create a full academic plan with your advisor for your remaining requirements.
Term 3 - Spring (14 credits)
Term S - Summer (5 credits)
*This course can be taken in a summer quarter any time during the degree program or added to any quarter during the academic year (as available). Term 4 - Fall (14 credits)
Milestone 3: Degree Progress Check-in
*Meet with your advisor for a progress check and to finalize remaining courses for your program. Begin discussing and planning for your post-graduation goals. Term 5 - Winter (12 credits)
Milestone 4: Graduation Application
*Submit a graduation application prior to your final term for the term you plan to graduate. Term 6 - Spring (16 credits)
