This program map is a scheduling tool designed to show you how you can meet the AHE Associate in Applied Science-Transfer while focusing on coursework to complete the Pharmacy Technician Certificate. You should meet with an advisor to help create your custom plan.

Program Code: HSAAHAAS-PHARM
Degree Notes

Academic pathways: AAS-T programs are designed to prepare graduates for jobs requiring two years of training and for bachelor’s programs that accept AAS-T degrees. This AAS-T is designed for a direct transfer to Bachelor of Applied Science (BAS) degrees, such as the BAS in Integrated Healthcare Management at Edmonds college or related healthcare BAS degrees at other colleges. This degree will also transfer to four-year colleges and universities that have specific health related bachelor’s degree programs. This includes the UW Bothell BA in Health Studies, and other programs that accept the AAS-T degree including Evergreen State College, Antioch University, Seattle Pacific University, University of Phoenix, and City University.

Career pathways: The Pharmacy Technician major related program prepares students for employment in the pharmacy field as a Pharmacy Technician. Students interested in the career pathway of a Pharmacist will require approximately three years of undergraduate prerequisites (often completed as a bachelor’s degree) and then to attend a Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) program.

Program Map Notes

  • Work ready credential: This program map features courses required for completion of the Pharmacy Technician certificate, completion of which provides students opportunities for employment, even during continued studies.
  • Clinical externship/placement requirements: This program includes time spent in an outside clinical facility, working with real patients to complete the required skills mastery.  To be eligible for placement, you will need to complete background checks and submit documentation of current immunizations required by the facility.  Information on the requirements and how to submit your documents will be provided by your instructor and need to be completed and approved prior to the beginning of Term 5, when clinical externship is scheduled.
  • Starting Term: These maps are designed to start in the Fall and may have Summer terms (indicated by “Term S - Summer”). Students starting in terms other than Fall should talk to an advisor.
  • Course Sequence: Courses are listed in a specific order to satisfy program requirements. Do not swap classes unless directed to by an advisor. Some courses may have limited offerings during the year. Work with an advisor to create a custom plan if needed.
  • Time to Complete: You may complete your program earlier or later depending on transferred credits, how many classes you take per term, and any prerequisite or pre-college courses you need.
  • Transfer Requirements: Begin considering now which schools you may want to transfer to and consult an advisor or potential transfer schools early in your planning process. Be aware that some WA state universities have specific admissions requirements.
  • Reading this map: “Choose One” sections provide course options that could work for your degree regardless of what you choose. When you see “Discuss With Advisor,” you should work with your advisor to select these courses to help you meet graduation requirements as well as university admission or major requirements.

Academic Advising: Please meet with an advisor to be sure your plan is accurate.  This program map is not a substitute for meeting with an academic advisor.
