Program Code: HSTHSAAS
Degree Notes

Academic pathways: AAS-T programs are designed to prepare graduates for jobs requiring two years of training and for bachelor’s programs that accept AAS-T degrees. This AAS-T is designed for a direct transfer to the Bachelor of Applied Science (BAS) degrees, such as the BAS in Child, Youth, and Family Studies at Edmonds College, or many other related BAS degrees at other community colleges. (Students are encouraged to check entrance requirements as they are subject to change.).
Students seeking to transfer to degree programs other than those specifically designed for the AAS-T should consider earning an Associate in Arts or Associate in Science degree, which are specifically designed for transfer to four-year colleges and universities.

Career pathways: Upon completion of this degree, students may seek employment in a range of private and public agencies in areas such as case management, prevention, mental health services, senior services, advocacy, and assessment and evaluation services.

Program Map Notes

  • Starting Term: These maps are designed to start in the Fall and may have Summer terms (indicated by “Term S - Summer”). Students starting in terms other than Fall should talk to an advisor.
  • Course Sequence: Courses are listed in a specific order to satisfy program requirements. Do not swap classes unless directed to by an advisor. Some courses may have limited offerings during the year. Work with an advisor to create a custom plan if needed.
  • Time to Complete: You may complete your program earlier or later depending on transferred credits, how many classes you take per term, and any prerequisite or pre-college courses you need.
  • Transfer Requirements: Begin considering now which schools you may want to transfer to and consult an advisor or potential transfer schools early in your planning process. Be aware that some WA state universities have specific admissions requirements. This degree only transfers to specific Bachelor of Applied Science programs who accept AAS-T degrees.
  • Reading this map: “Choose One” sections provide course options that could work for your degree regardless of what you choose. When you see “Discuss With Advisor,” you should work with your advisor to select these courses to help you meet graduation requirements as well as university admission or major requirements.

Academic Advising: Please meet with an advisor to be sure your plan is accurate. This program map is not a substitute for meeting with an academic advisor.
